So you think you could run a pro team?
You can through Big Bucks Footy, an
online game that goes live Jan. 2
By Wendy Stueck
| Quote: | For every soccer fan who has ever bemoaned the incompetence of stupidity of team, Tim Lloyd wold offer this solution: Do the job better yourself, through an online game that lets you control everything from player salaries to clubhouse furniture.
And to make it interesting, compete for real prize money, adding cold hard cash to possible bragging.
A test version of the game, Big Bucks Footy, is scheduled to go live on Jan. 2, marking four years of development and, according to Mr. Lloyd, the evolution of online gaming toward skill-based games that draw like-minded enthusiasts from around the globe.
"This is not gambling -- this is a 100-per-cent skills-based game, where people compete for cash prizes," says Mr. Lloyd, vice-president of Vancouver-based Big Bucks Interactive Inc., which has developed the game. "There is gambling and there is gaming, and we are going right down the middle." (emphasis addd) (-- p. B5) |
