FAQ
What is the accuracy of the PartyPoker Revenue Estimate report?
PartyGaming reported the following poker revenues in 2007 updates:
- Interim results for the six months to 30 June 2007: $140.5M
- Third Quarter Trading Update: $74.8M and up 3% versus previous quarter
- Fourth Quarter Trading Update: $72.6M (after restructuring of loyalty programme). There was a 13% increase in the number of unique active players versus the 3rd quarter.
The PartyPoker revenue estimate model for the same time periods gave:
- Six months to 30 June 2007: $140.3M
- 2nd Q 2007: $71M
- 3rd Q 2007: $71.9M
- 4th Q 2007: $83.2M -- this is a 13.5% increase over 3rd quarter revenue estimates
Conclusion: the PokerPulse PartyPoker revenue estimate model showed a reasonable estimate for the growth in player traffic. However, the model failed to account for the changes in the loyalty programme and its associate costs -- the global online poker market is becoming more competitive in terms of player recruitment. Which PartyPoker Revenue report options provided the 2007 estimates shown above?
The 2007 estimates shown above can be derived from any of the report options. That is, the PartyPoker revenue estimate is based on a single model. The various options expose more details above the revenue estimates (e.g. hourly break downs instead of daily or break downs by revenue generating game type on a daily or hourly basis). However, since there is a common model, each report option gives the same quarterly revenue estimate published above.
The more detailed report options may be of interest for advance modelling scenarios based on time of day and game/bind structures.
Daily Estimate report provides all of the data required to generate the 2007 revenue estimates shown above and will be published here as a quarterly summary a few days in advance of the next 2007 update from PartyGaming. Publication of future updates are t.b.d.
